Overview
HbA1C / Glycated haemoglobin (GHA) is a blood test used to measure blood glucose levels over the last 3 months. It is used to diagnose and treat diabetes and pre-diabetes. This test doesn’t require fasting and isn’t affected by meals eaten immediately before the test, making it less prone to changes in blood sugar levels. For diabetics, a high GHA level indicates a need to modify treatment/ diet plans. Higher the GHA level, the more glucose attaches to haemoglobin, and the higher the GAA level. A higher GAA level indicates that the glucose level has been higher than normal over the last 2 to 3 months.
