During the ADA (Adenosine Deaminase) test on peritoneal fluid, a sample of peritoneal fluid is collected from the patient. This is typically done through a procedure called paracentesis, where a healthcare provider inserts a needle or catheter into the abdominal cavity to withdraw fluid.
Once the peritoneal fluid sample is obtained, it is sent to a laboratory for analysis. In the lab, the level of ADA enzyme activity in the peritoneal fluid sample is measured. The test results are then reported to the healthcare provider, who interprets them in the context of the patient's clinical presentation and other diagnostic findings to aid in the diagnosis of peritoneal tuberculosis.
